The film opens with now Headmaster Snape looking out from a tower at the regimented Hogwarts students, as they march in Third Reich-ean lockstep across the courtyard of his Dementor-guarded castle.
Snape as Headmaster is great. Alan Rickman puts on his Snape character more than ever when it comes to the way he speaks.
Speaking of Snape, The Prince's Tail is wonderful. It's an extensive collection of scenes spanning Snape's life. There are some really fantastic looks at his character.

The first 3/4 are Snape and Lily. We see Petunia calling Lily a freak.
Lily and Severus hanging out by the lake. When they start at Hogwarts.
James knocking their books down Her marrying James. Finding out about
the prophecy. Telling Dumbledore he made a mistake. Him finding Lily
dead in Godric’s Hollow. Holding her and crying. Then Harry starts
Hogwarts (clips from the first movie), Snape talking to Dumbledore about
Harry being just like his father. Snape trying to heal Dumbledore’s
hand, telling him he has a year to live. Dumbledore asks Snape to kill
him and to make sure Potter knows at the right time that he is a
horcrux. Snape sends out a doe patronus and agrees to Dumbledore’s
terms.

Lily meeting as children, their sorting at Hogwarts, Snape and
Dumbledore's fateful conversations about Harry, and--most
hearbreakingly---Snape discovering Lily and James' bodies at Godric's
Hollow. Alan Rickman gives his best performance yet in the series, and
possibly the best in the film.
Harry confronts Snape in the Great Hall, while the headmaster is addressing the Hogwarts students. McGonagall and Snape duel (one of several fantastic moments in the film for Dame Maggie Smith), and Snape escapes via a cloud of black smoke through the window... without the bat-shaped hole, sadly.
